don’t (11)_edited.jpg

Michelangelo spent years painting The Last Judgment on the altar wall of the Sistine Chapel.

Biagio da Cesena, the Pope’s master of ceremonies, was not impressed.

Too many naked people.

He complained that all that nudity belonged in bathhouses and taverns—not the Pope’s chapel.

Michelangelo took the criticism well.

Just kidding.

He painted Cesena into The Last Judgment.

Naked.

In Hell.

As Minos, judge of the damned.

And because apparently naked and damned wasn't quite enough, Michelangelo wrapped a snake around him.

And some very private parts that became not so private after that.

500 years have passed

And every year, millions from around the world visit the Sistine Chapel.

And Biagio da Cesena is still there.

Naked.

In Hell.

There's nothing like a big fat creative fresco middle finger!
