You know that gorgeous little Italian town Denzel Washington saves in The Equalizer 3?
It exists.
It’s called Atrani,
It's a tiny fishing village on Italy’s Amalfi Coast.
For the movie, Atrani became the fictional town of Altamonte.
And Hollywood pretty much took over the place.
Businesses in the town square were paid to close while filming took place, and locals were recruited as extras.
Director Antoine Fuqua fell in love with the people of Atrani, because they would show up with espresso and enormous lemons for him and the crew.
I'm sure they didn't like the stairs, though.
The towns on the Amalfi Coast are built on steep hills which are riddled with stairs.
You can't get anywhere without climbing a minimum of 50, and some places can't be accessed by vehicles at all.
The church of Atrani, which was the location for some of the most important scenes in the movie, could only be reached by climbing 700 steps.
Cardio and a movie... can't beat that!
